How are benchmarks and scores calculated?

The strength scores are calculated based on results for AxIT users. The assesment data on AxIT Connect is anonymised, bodyweight normalised (where applicable) and collated based on Age and Gender. A multi-stage filtering/cleaning process is used to remove outliers and erroneous data. Estimated percentiles are calculated and used to provide benchmarks for the client's age and gender. The strength score is based on the estimated percentile. For example, a score of 90 or above indicates that the client's results are in the top 10% of AxIT users for their age and gender demographic on a bodyweight normalised basis.

What do the Benchmarks represent?

Knee Extension Isometric Strength (Instagram Post (34))

This Benchmarks chart in AxIT Connect is a percentile band chart that places an individual's test result in context against a normative population of the same age and gender demographic. The x-axis shows age, the y-axis shows the measured output, and the shaded bands represent different performance tiers. Colours move from green (higher percentiles) through yellow to red/pink (lower percentiles), giving an immediate sense of where a result sits relative to others.

The shape of the bands across age reflects how that physical quality typically develops and declines across the lifespan, while the width of the bands at any given age shows how much natural variation exists in the population at that point. Together, these charts turn a raw score into a meaningful, population-referenced data point to support goal setting, progress tracking, and identifying areas of concern.

What do the strength score colours represent?

The strength score and colour bands are based on the estimated percentiles for the client.

The overall strength score for left, right and single metrics are calculated as the average percentile for each individual test.

The Overall Score is the average of the left and right scores.

Which results are included?

Strength scores are based on the most appropriate strength metric for each test. Generally this is the peak force metric, which provides the most reliable and comparable data for most of the AxIT tests.

Scores may be displayed as Not Available if there is insufficient data for the client's specific demographics and these results are not included in the overall scores or benchmark graphs.

All results and metrics are available in the TEXT tab for easy copy/paste into other management or note taking systems.
