Stomp-IT Normal Vs Fast Vs Pause Vs Isometric Testing

How to choose the right test using the Stomp-IT

The AxIT system contains over one hundred tests across every muscle and movement allowing for almost unlimited options when assessing the people you work with to gain actionable data.

In this module we cover the difference between Normal, Fast, Pause and Isometric Testing and what data you can gain from each different protocol.

Normal: Test the clients weight distribution and ground reaction force at a self selected speed.

Fast: Test the clients weight distribution and ground reaction force when recruiting the Stretch-Shortening Cycle. The Stretch-Shortening Cycle (SSC) refers to the ‘pre-stretch’ or ‘countermovement’ action that is commonly observed during typical human movements such as jumping. This pre-stretch allows the athlete to produce more force and move quicker and usually provides greater loads to the connective tissue such as tendons.

Pause: Test the clients weight distribution and ground reaction force when recruiting the purely concentric output from the muscles. Due to the pause in the eccentric phase this minimises the contribution from the Stretch-Shortening Cycle and looks more at only the muscular contraction force, not elastic force from the connective tissue.

Isometric: Isometric tests involve participants producing a. maximal force or torque against an immovable resistance allowing for easy and repeatable measures of peak force and rate of force development.
