ROM Hip External Rotation Prone

Position: Position your client lying face down with the knee of the test leg flexed to 90° and hip in a neutral position. Stabilize the pelvis to prevent movement. Hold the tablet against the back of the shin, just above the ankle.

Cues: Move your foot across toward the other leg, keeping your thigh and pelvis still, until you feel a strong but comfortable stretch. Hold when you reach that point.

Procedure

Step 1 – Press START on the side you are testing.
Step 2 – Place the tablet against the shin in the starting position (lower leg vertical).
Step 3 – Tap the LINE icon near the distal end of the shin to begin angle capture.
Step 4 – Instruct the client to move their foot inward (externally rotating the hip) slowly to their end range.
Step 5 – When they reach end range, tap the screen to capture the angle.
Step 6 – Tap SAVE to record the result.
Step 7 – Repeat steps 1–6 on the other side.
