ROM Wrist Flexion

Position: Position your client seated at a table with the forearm resting on the table, palm facing down, and the hand hanging just off the edge of the table. The forearm should stay flat and supported throughout the movement. Hold the tablet against the back (dorsal side) of the hand, just above the knuckles.

Cues: Let your hand drop down toward the floor, bending your wrist as far as you can. Keep your forearm resting on the table. Hold when you reach your maximum.

Procedure

Step 1 – Press START on the side you are testing.
Step 2 – Place the tablet against the back of the hand in the starting neutral position (hand in line with forearm).
Step 3 – Tap the LINE icon near the distal end of the hand to begin angle capture.
Step 4 – Instruct the client to slowly flex the wrist downward to their end range.
Step 5 – When they reach end range, tap the screen to capture the angle.
Step 6 – Tap SAVE to record the result.
Step 7 – Repeat steps 1–6 on the other side.
