Using AxIT Devices with Multiple Tablets

How to improve connection performance when there are multiple tablets using the same AxIT System?

AxIT devices connect to tablets via Bluetooth, and like most Bluetooth devices, they can only stay connected to one tablet at a time. If more than one tablet tries to connect, you may see errors or failed connections.

Why it happens

  • The device stays paired with the first tablet until it disconnects
  • A second tablet won’t be able to connect unless the first tablet has released it.
  • By default, the AxIT app has Connection Holding, which means all AxIT devices in a session remain BLE connected to the tablet so that you can quickly switch between tests without having to disconnect.

This isn’t a fault — it’s how Bluetooth works to keep connections stable.

Multi-Tablet Set up

If your clinic uses more than one tablet with the same AxIT devices, you can turn off Connection Holding so that the AxIT device only remains connected when you are running a test on the device .

  • The device only connects while the test is selected, and is not held for the whole session.
  • After you select a test that uses a different device, it disconnects automatically.
  • This frees it up for another tablet straight away.

How to turn off connection holding?

  1. Go to the Devices tab in the Settings on the app
  2. Tap 5 times in the white space next to the device names to enter editing mode

  3. Disable “Holding all Connections”.
